For over two years, I have worked as a counsellor in school settings, dedicating my energy and heart to supporting children and young people (CYP) through some of life’s most challenging moments. My approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and a genuine belief in each young person’s ability to thrive when given the right tools and support. With a Level 5 Certificate in Working Therapeutically with CYP and advanced training in Children’s Accelerated Trauma Therapy (CATT)—a proven, research-based intervention—I have helped young people navigate anxiety, school refusal, and gender and identity challenges, including emotions and transitions related to self-discovery. I strive to ensure each child feels truly seen and heard, creating a safe space for them to explore their feelings and build resilience.
I also use KIT (Knowledge, Insight, Tools), another research-based intervention, to empower young people to identify their challenges and work towards meaningful change. Watching them take ownership of their growth and regain confidence is deeply fulfilling.
My commitment extends to families, where I provide compassionate support to parents who feel overwhelmed or unsure of how to help their children. I guide them with understanding and practical strategies to strengthen family connections.
As a School Project Manager in both primary and secondary schools, I have overseen the delivery of counselling services designed to benefit the entire school community.
My work has included:
* Implementing a whole-school approach to emotional well-being.
* Managing and delivering counselling services tailored to CYP and their families.
* Supervising and mentoring trainee counsellors, equipping them to work effectively with CYP.
Safeguarding is at the core of everything I do, ensuring the safety and well-being of every child I support.
Every step of my journey in working with CYP has been guided by my belief in the power of kindness, patience, and the incredible potential within each young person. I am honored to walk alongside them and their families as they navigate challenges and discover their strength.
